Welcome to the world of Garlan Jenkens
Painter, Poet, Musician, Song Writer, Professor, Curator

Garlan Jenkens is a native Texan, born in Stamford, Texas and reared in Abilene. He earned his BFA and MFA degrees from the University of North Texas, Denton, majoring in painting and drawing with minors in art history, printmaking and philosophy. He earned his Phd. from the University of Oregon, Eugene, majoring in Museum Studies/Arts Administration.

Garlan has been a teaching fellow at the University of North Texas and the University of Oregon. He was awarded a Danforth Foundation Fellowship and studied at Stanford University, Palo Alto, California, and has been a Fellow with the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC.

He has been an Exhibits Designer for the Museum of Art, University of Oregon, Eugene, Gallery Director, Department of Art, University of Oregon, Curator of Art with the Arts and Science Center, Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Assistant Professor of Art, University of Arkansas, Little Rock, Assistant Professor of Art/Gallery Director University of Arkansas, Pine Bluff, Assistant Professor of Art/Gallery Director, University of Central Arkansas, Conway, Grant Writer, Heritage Non-Profit Inc., Conway, Arkansas, Director of Education and Exhibitions, Diaz Fine Art Gallery, Buffalo Gap, Texas, Director of the Shore Art Gallery and Adjunct Professor of Art, Abilene Christian University and is currently on the art faculty with Cisco College, Abilene, Texas.

His art work can been seen in numerous public and private collections throughout the United States and Mexico including, Bank of America, MTV, Arkansas Arts Center, Little Rock, AR, Blackfish Gallery, Seattle, WA and the Smithsonian Institution to name but a few. He has been included in over 70 regional and nationally juried exhibits and many invitational and one person shows as well.

He is a published poet and a performer and has recorded his first CD, "Love Has Found Me Again".
